Tony Dungy's book, Quiet Strength: the principles, practices, and priorities of a winning life, is a powerful legacy from an amazing man of true character, dignity, and integrity. This morning, I pulled it off the shelf and glanced at some of my key points and thoughts I had written in the margins. This book is absolutely jam-packed with wisdom but the thoughts that struck me again today were 3 lessons Tony learned as a player and coach:
stay calm
communicate clearly
be patient in the process
He says that you can't control your circumstances but you can control your attitude, approach, and response. Staying calm, communicating clearly, and being patient all require presence and awareness. These 3 lessons require that we notice without judging, that we be grateful of every moment, and that we have the ability to see things as they are without excuses and explanations. Tony's book title is amazing. Quiet Strength. Calm, clear, and patient. Thanks for those tips, Tony. They're great!
Enjoy the day!
