Four Masks

In the event of an airplane emergency, what is the first thing you are supposed to do? Most of us know that we are to put on our own masks first, THEN begin assisting those around us. Why? Because an emergency means there is an immediate problem. And if we don't have oxygen, we will quickly become part of the problem. When we secure our own masks first, we can be part of the solution.

It's critical that we take time to care for ourselves. Self-care allows us to gain so we will be equipped to give. We don't want to live in "survive mode." We want to live in "thrive mode." So let's take a step back and take a breath. Let's assess and address four key areas that require immediate oxygen. It's time to secure your four masks.

The Foundational Four: faith, family, fitness, and finances.

Making gains in these four areas, allows us to thrive. Take a moment to think about your health in these 4 areas. How is your faith, spiritual life, quiet time? How is your relationship with your family? How is your physical health and fitness? How are your finances? These are areas that require attention and intention and can be the source of great peace or stress. Every one of us requires oxygen in these areas. So secure your mask and then start assisting those around you.

Keep in mind that improvement in any area is a process that takes time and tiny, consistent gains. So be patient with the process. Start small and stick with it. Remember to Show Up and Keep Showing Up.

Quick start ideas...

Faith: take a moment of silence, meditate, read, pray, be still...

Family: listen, smile, say a kind word, give a hug...

Fitness: take a walk, eat a healthy snack, drink some water...

Finance: check your balances, read some Dave Ramsey...

Take time to care for and invest in yourself.

Grab a mask. And enjoy the day!
