How Was Your Day

"How was your day?" A simple question that's usually answered with a simple reply such as good, fine, or okay. But actually this is a critically important question. It's a question that should generate a moment of deep reflection. Especially to someone living a life of intention.

Take a moment to consider your personal mission. Why do you do the things you do? What are you trying to accomplish? What is your purpose and plan? Keeping these questions in mind makes the "how was your day" quite powerful.

So consider the day. How WAS it? Did you thrive or did you survive? What went well and what didn't? Did you intentionally take actions that helped you make progress in areas that truly matter? Did you gain any insights about your habits, routines, systems, or perspectives? Did you uncover any skills you need to attend to or develop?

If it was a good day of making gains in areas that matter to you, that's awesome! No matter how big or small, celebrate the wins! Cheer yourself and encourage yourself. And if you don't feel like it was a good day of making gains, that's still a win because you just recognized it! If you notice and recognize areas that need improvement you can go into the next day with more clarity, purpose, and direction. You can make a plan to address one thing you noticed. There's no need to be frustrated or disappointed with yourself. The growth process is life-long. Be patient and enjoy the process.

So the next time you hear "how was your day," don't answer too quickly. Pause and think. By simply doing that, you're reflecting and noticing. By simply doing that, you're learning and growing. And by simply doing that, this instantly becomes a great day.

Enjoy the day!
